She adjusted her sitting position on the chair facing Dr. Fatima Omar while fixing her glasses. She opened her mouth, which felt heavy every time she spoke about her sister due to her embarrassment and frustration about how her sister was always the source of her heartache and worries.
No matter how much she wanted to look away and suppress the matter, it always came back to her because of the fear of what she would face if her sister took it away from her, as this was the root of her worries and fears since she didn't know what she could become without it.
As she usually did every time she came to Dr. Fatima, she started by saying:
"My name is AYSHAT HAMEEDA NUHU MANDE, and my twin sister's name is KHADIJA MUFEEDA NUHU MANDE. We were born twenty years ago, just five minutes apart. I was the first to come into the world before her. I deserve the most love and affection from our parents and relatives before her because I was the first to light up their eyes after they had waited a long time to see this day when they would embrace their children, especially since they had waited a long time without any births.
After my birth, my parents were indescribably happy to have me, but the love and affection I received from them lasted only five minutes because my sister's birth changed everything for me until now.
She is the light of their eyes,
She is the joy of their home and surroundings,
But Allah, who has power over her, did not allow her to remain in this world without being afflicted by a disease called WEAK HEART (CARDIOMYOPATHY).
This disease she carries has further diminished the intensity of love between me and our parents, our siblings, the doctors, and the entire world.
Her heart condition has made it so that no one can love her less, no one scolds her, no one sees her faults; everyone loves her, everyone adores her. It has reached a point where our paternal grandmother has decided to name her after our grandmother, KHADIJA MUFEEDA, while I took the name of our mother, AYSHAT HAMEEDA.
She has taken the love of our parents,
She has taken the love of our grandparents and relatives, and she has also taken the name of our mother in her life because since her birth, our mother has not regained her health. It has been a year since she passed away, leaving us with immense sorrow and longing for her.
Mufeeda underwent heart surgery, which was successful, but the doctors confirmed that there is a possibility of her needing another surgery in the future, which they assured us may not guarantee her survival if it happens.
This has further established a new, intense love in everyone's heart.
We have come back with the care of our father and grandmother, who, due to old age, has returned to her eldest daughter's house in Lagos, and our father took us back to this country to live.
The love and affection that our father has for Mufeeda is unmatched and cannot be compared to anything else.
Ummy, our father's sister, and Hajja do not compare their love for her to anything because Ummy, even with her two sons that Allah has given her, does not show them the love she has for Mufeeda.
May Allah grant Mufeeda the blessings that I cannot say I have received because in every aspect, Allah has given her everything she needs:
Wealth,
Prosperity,
Blessings,
Beauty,
Physical attractiveness,
Good health,
Charisma,
Education, and enlightenment in life. But one thing that has not been granted to her is health.
Her health is fragile; no matter how she tries to navigate her life, it is her health that brings her obstacles because she is someone who deeply loves to enjoy life with educated friends and good times.
Since we were in primary school, everyone wanted to be friends with Mufeeda.
Everyone loves Mufeeda even now as we are young women, and that is how life is.
I have become like an old woman or a mother due to the love and jealousy I have for my sister that has consumed me since I was a child.
Now my heart is filled with jealousy and love for my sister, but what I do not know is between her love and her jealousy, which one is greater in my heart??????
Which one will prevail over the other in my heart? Because now I am starting to fear how life will separate me from her in the future????
